Frequently Asked Questions
Rhinoplasty , often referred to as “nose surgery,” is a surgical procedure performed to change the shape of the nose. This can be done for cosmetic reasons, to improve the appearance of the nose, or for functional purposes, such as correcting structural issues that cause breathing difficulties.
The initial recovery period after Rhinoplasty usually lasts about 1 to 2 weeks. During this time, most swelling and bruising subside, and patients can return to normal activities. However, full recovery can take up to a year, during which the shape of the nose gradually changes as the tissues heal.
In most cases, incisions for Rhinoplasty are made inside the nostrils, leaving no visible scars. However, in open nose surgery, a small incision is made on the tissue (columella) between the nostrils, and the resulting scar typically fades over time.
You may notice changes in the shape of your nose a few weeks after the operation, but it can take up to 12 months for the final results to fully emerge. This is due to the gradual reduction of swelling and the time needed for the tissues to heal completely.
Rhinoplasty is generally not considered very painful. Most patients report feeling discomfort rather than sharp pain after the operation. Postoperative discomfort is usually managed with prescription painkillers and typically subsides within a few days.
